“GiCheon HwalMyeong (Hwal: to heal or revitalize, Myeong: life)” in GiCheon means that one acquires virtue from reforming unenlightened ideas, and then controls the body with that virtue. The great love and benevolence thus achieved is the principle of “SangSaeng SangGeuk (Sang: each other, Saeng: to live or to exist, Geuk: ultimate).” The realization of SangSaeng SangGeuk means the elimination of unwholesome attachments and freeing the mind of harmful yearnings. This is made possible through observing nature and cultivating one's own natural virtues. Unlike other Gi-Healing methods, GiCheon healing (Gi healing or self-cure or self-treatment) is not based on the technique. This is the fundamental rule of nature according to GiCheon: every ailment results from bad habits and innate tendencies. No one can completely eradicate these qualities: they may recede temporarily, but will recur. Ultimately, one will be able to attain HwalMyeong by sincerely exercising his or her inner-self, realizing and embodying the virtues of GiCheon, and performing them in daily life. To perform GiCheon healing, one requires great internal force achieved by static disciplines (mainly DahnBaeGong and 6 basic poses) for long years.
