What is
BeomDoh?
BeomDoh
(Beom: general, Doh: step) named for a pose of the tiger being ready to fight
against the enemy. BeomDoh is a basic pose for every attack and defense. So, it
can be variously used for defense, attack, and movement forward or backward.
BeomDoh
is an applied position of NaeGa ShinJang. It’s also known as "BeomDoh
Se" or “the tiger pose.”
How to pose
One turns the left foot outward to a 45 degree angle.
Advance the right foot two and a half steps forward from
the left big toe.
Angle the right heel outward to a 45 degree angle.
Lifting the right heel, bend the right knee to a 45
degree angle, so that only the tip of the right big toe is touching the floor.
Shape the left leg into an inward 90 degree angle,
creating a triangle that extends from the navel to the ankle.
Arch the left back by pushing out the left buttocks, and
perform WonBahnJang to the right.
The right hand rests at eye height, fingertips leveled
upward and palm perpendicular to the floor, wrist held at a 45 degree forward
angle. The left hand rests palm-down in front of the lower abdomen: the left
wrist is flexed to a 90 degree angle, so that the left palm makes a 45 degree
angle with the floor.
The gaze should be focused at the middle fingertip and
the feet are firm against the floor with power focused at the toe tips.
