How GiCheon is different?
Refining GiCheon training
for enhanced benefit
With the
remarkable advances in
modern
science and
technology, most of
us
seem to
have
developed much
trust
in
scientific
techniques and machines (e.g.
medical equipment) rather than heeding the voices of our bodies.
My teaching experience as well as personal training in GiCheon has made me
believe that the human body is the most advanced instrument.
With
focused descriptions
of
the characteristics of NaeGa
ShinJang,
this chapter may
better
explain
the
uniqueness
of GiCheon. I’m
combining my
teaching experience
together with my
Grandmaster
Lee, Sang Won’s
writings
and
sayings, which were composed in Korean years
ago.
Maybe
you have already learned of or trained
in
some GiCheon poses. No
matter how much you have heard about or studied GiCheon,I
would like you to read very carefully, trying
to figure out how you might train
in a more correct way.
If you don’t experience all or
at least some of the following characteristics,
you are
probably practicing incorrectly. Accordingly, you would
experience less of the benefits of GiCheon training
described in this article.
Further,
I would like to say that training in GiCheon means undergoing development of
many aspects (Gi, physique, spirituality, meditation, mental ability,
self-healing and revitalization, etc). These developments take place regardless
of how well a practitioner understands and realizes their nature and effect.
Key topics in GiCheon
training
1.
YeokGeun
2.
Ascetic
training
3.
Sweat and Sway (the
phenomena
of Wind, Fire, and Water: SuSeung HwaGang or immune system)
4.
Natural
abdominal breathing
